Applications and Properties of Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet
20/05/2021Uses and characteristics of Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet.
Vacuum Forming: also known as suction forming, it is a processing method in which thermoplastic sheet or sheet is fixed on a mold, heated to softening temperature by radiation heater, and the air between the sheet and the mold is extracted by vacuum pump (or air compressor) to make the blank adsorbed on the surface of the mold with the help of atmospheric pressure, and then demolded by compressed air after cooling to form the desired plastic part.
The characteristics of Vacuum Forming are: simple production equipment, high efficiency, simple mold structure, the ability to process large size thin-walled plastic parts, and low production costs.
Introduction to Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet:
Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet is a new material in the sheet industry and is the highest power polymer used and the most widely used polymer. The various functions of PS, SAN and BS are organically integrated to achieve excellent mechanical functionality while balancing toughness, stiffness and rigidity.
Applications of Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet.
Common life products are listed as, household items, repair models, prototype buildings, step-by-step electronic household items, refrigerators and freezers, electronics, pharmaceutical household items, automotive parts (dashboards, stuff hatches, wheel covers, mirror cases, etc.), wireless boxes,, e.g. telephone handles, high strength items (vacuum cleaners, blowers, blenders, lawn mowers, etc.), typewriter keyboards, golf carts and motorboats.
Characteristics of Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet.
1. ABS sheet has excellent mechanical properties, it has very good erosion strength and can be used at low temperatures. ABS has excellent wear resistance, excellent dimensional invariance and oil resistance for medium loads and medium speeds. Bearings. ABS has higher creep resistance than PSF and PC, but lower than PA and POM. Among the plastics, ABS has the worst bending strength and compressive strength. The mechanical function of ABS is greatly influenced by temperature.
2. ABS sheets are not affected by water, inorganic salts, alkalis and various acids, but are soluble in ketones, aldehydes and chlorinated hydrocarbons and have stress cracks due to corrosion by glacial acetic acid or vegetable oils. ABS has low weathering resistance and degrades easily under the influence of ultraviolet light, so it can be used outdoors for six months, thus reducing the attack strength by half.
3.Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet has excellent impact strength, excellent dimensional constancy, excellent dyeability, excellent molding processability, high mechanical strength, high rigidity, low water absorption, excellent corrosion resistance, easy to connect, non-toxic, odorless, excellent chemical function and electric blocking function. It is heat resistant and stable, and has high corrosion resistance at low temperatures. As usual, it is a durable material with almost no scratching and deformation. Low water absorption and high dimensional constancy. Typical ABS sheet is not very white, but has good toughness and can be cut with scissors or punching.
4.Vacuum Forming ABS Plastic Sheet has a heat deflection temperature of 93-118°C, and the annealed product may rise 10°C. ABS can show the required toughness even at -40°C and can be used in the temperature range of -40 to 100°C. Medium-clear ABS sheets are the preferred alternative to PC sheets because of their high transparency and excellent polishing and buffing. Compared to acrylic, it has good toughness and can be carefully processed.
