Classification of acrylic board

04/02/2021

Acrylic, also known as the special treatment of plexiglass, is a new generation of plexiglass products. The light box made of acrylic has the characteristics of good light transmission performance, pure color, rich color, beautiful and smooth, taking into account the two effects of day and night, long service life and no impact on the use. In addition, acrylic board and aluminum-plastic plate profiles, high Ji screen printing can be combined to meet the needs of businesses. Acrylic blister is a good outdoor advertising form to improve the level of business stores and unify the corporate image. "Acrylic" is a transliteration, English is acrylic. It's a chemical material. The chemical name is "PMMA", which belongs to polyacrylate, commonly known as "specially treated organic glass". In the application industry, acrylic raw materials are generally in the form of particles, plates, pipes, etc. Acrylic is transliterated from acrylic, which is the general name of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid chemicals. The acrylic plate is polymerized by methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA), that is polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) plate and plexiglass. "Plexiglass" is derived from the trade name "orglas" (a kind of PMMA plate) and "organic glass" (also known as plexiglass).

Acrylic, commonly known as special treatment plexiglass. The research and development of acrylic has a history of more than 100 years. In 1872, the polymerizability of acrylic acid was discovered; in 1880, the polymerizability of methacrylic acid was known; in 1901, the research on the synthesis method of propenylpropionate was completed; in 1927, the above-mentioned synthesis method was used to try industrial manufacturing; in 1937, the industrial manufacturing and development of methacrylate was successful, thus entering into large-scale manufacturing. During World War II, because of its excellent strength, toughness and light transmittance, acrylic was first applied to the windshield of an aircraft and the field of vision mirror of the cab of a tank driver. The birth of an acrylic bathtub in 1948 marks a new milestone in the application of acrylic.

Acrylic casting board: high molecular weight, excellent stiffness, strength and excellent chemical resistance. This kind of plate is characterized by small batch processing, incomparable flexibility in color system and surface texture effect, and complete product specifications, suitable for various special purposes.

Acrylic Extrusion board: compared with the casting board, the molecular weight of the extruded board is lower and the mechanical properties are slightly weaker. However, this feature is conducive to bending and thermoforming, and is conducive to rapid vacuum forming when dealing with large-size plates. At the same time, the thickness tolerance of extrusion plate is smaller than that of casting plate. As the extrusion plate is a mass automatic production, the color and specification are inconvenient to adjust, so the product specification diversity is limited.

Acrylic board material classification in China is mainly divided into three categories: first, imported board; second, Taiwan funded board; third, domestic board. The difference lies in the origin and (MMA) purity of the raw materials used. This is also the key to determine the quality and price of the plate.

There are two brands of acrylic board imported in China: Mitsubishi (Mitsubishi Chemical) of Japan and Degussa of Germany.

The so-called Taiwan funded board refers to the board made of pure raw materials of UK Lucite (MMA) and Taiwan's technology and process. Most of the molds used in the production of plates are made in England and Germany. The acrylic plate produced has uniform color, no water mark and small thickness error;

Domestic plate refers to the raw materials used in the production of plate, one is domestic, the other is the secondary processing of PMMA. But the disadvantages are obvious water marks on the surface, uneven thickness, easy yellowing, not suitable for blister forming, only suitable for carving. The advantage is low price. It has been proved by experiments on tablet machine. There is a certain gap between the effect of injection and that of import.
